Job summary

BHP is seeking a Mining Engineer to lead Dragline planning at the Saraji Mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin. The role involves delivering safe, practical dragline mine plans, collaborating with operations and technical teams, and reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent.

The successful candidate will manage a dragline planning team, optimise designs and sequences, and drive improvements in planning processes while aligning with safety and production goals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in open cut coal mine planning, particularly Dragline operations.
• Practical knowledge of short to medium-term mine planning.
• Proficiency with Deswik, 3D Dig or SPRY.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the Dragline planning team to deliver safe, efficient Dragline plans and schedules.
• Develop and deliver optimised Dragline designs and sequences.
• Coach and mentor team members in Dragline planning best practice.
• Monitor dig-to-design compliance and ensure plans are practical for operations.
• Communicate planning outcomes to production and execution teams.
• Contribute to incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build cross-functional relationships across planning and operations.
