BHP is seeking a Mining Engineer to lead Dragline planning at the Saraji Mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin. The role involves delivering safe, practical dragline mine plans, collaborating with operations and technical teams, and reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent.

The successful candidate will manage a dragline planning team, optimise designs and sequences, and drive improvements in planning processes while aligning with safety and production goals.

Competenze

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in open cut coal mine planning, particularly Dragline operations.
• Practical knowledge of short to medium-term mine planning.
• Proficiency with Deswik, 3D Dig or SPRY.

About The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled Mining Engineer to join a leading open cut coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. You will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and executable mine plans focused on Dragline activities and report to the Mine Planning Superintendent.

This role offers exposure to a large-scale mining environment and the chance to contribute to short to medium-term planning while collaborating closely with operations and technical teams.

This role is on a 4:3‑day shift roster based at our Saraji Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, FIFO (BNE to MOV), residential and DIDO options are available.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the work of the Dragline planning team to ensure the delivery of safe and efficient Dragline plans and schedules
• Develop and deliver optimised Dragline designs and sequences
• Coach, develop and mentor team members in best practice Dragline planning
• Monitor and drive action for dig-to-design compliance
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable
• Communicate planning outcomes clearly to production and execution teams
• Contribute to incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
• Build strong cross‑functional relationships across planning and operations

About You

• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in open cut coal mine planning, particularly in Dragline operations
• Practical knowledge of short to medium–term mine planning
• Proficiency in mining software such as Deswik, 3D Dig, or SPRY
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Results-driven with a focus on safety, efficiency and continuous improvement
