Job summary

BHP is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for its open cut coal operations in Queensland's Bowen Basin. You will lead safe and efficient mine designs, schedules, and cross-functional planning with operations and leadership to meet business objectives.

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, you will mentor engineers, contribute to innovative planning approaches, and deliver plans within the 90-day activity schedule. FIFO, residential and DIDO options available at BMA Mines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years in open cut coal mine planning and operations.
• Experience with dragline/truck-and-shovel design and scheduling is preferred.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, 3D Dig and SPRY required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, productive mine planning and scheduling across draglines, prestrip, coal mining, drill & blast.
• Collaborate with operations, technical services and leadership to achieve objectives.
• Develop 90-day activity schedules and supporting pit execution strategies.
• Integrate budget-critical paths into weekly plans and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach and develop engineers across multiple planning disciplines.
