Job summary

BHP in Queensland’s Bowen Basin is seeking a Mining Engineer to lead Dragline planning across a large open-cut operation. You will contribute to short- to medium-term mine plans and collaborate with operations and technical teams.

The role is based at Saraji Mine with a 4:3-day FIFO roster (BNE to MOV); residential and DIDO options are available. A degree in Mining Engineering and hands-on Dragline planning experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in open cut coal mine planning, especially Dragline operations.
  • Knowledge of short- to medium-term mine planning.
  • Proficiency with mining software such as Deswik, 3D Dig, SPRY.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Safety, efficiency and continuous improvement focus.

An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled Mining Engineer to join a leading open cut coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. You will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient and executable mine plans focused on Dragline activities and report to the Mine Planning Superintendent.

This role offers exposure to a large-scale mining environment and the chance to contribute to short to medium‑term planning while collaborating closely with operations and technical teams.

This role is on a 4:3-day shift roster based at our Saraji Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, FIFO (BNE to MOV), residential and DIDO options are available.

Key Responsibilities

About You
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in open cut coal mine planning, particularly in Dragline operations
  • Practical knowledge of short to medium-term mine planning
  • Proficiency in mining software such as Deswik, 3D Dig, or SPRY
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Results-driven with a focus on safety, efficiency and continuous improvement
