Job summary

Skatco P/L in Melbourne is seeking an experienced door technician to own and grow the local installation and service operation. You will lead the Melbourne team, deliver high-quality projects, and work directly with senior management to shape the business.

The role requires hands-on expertise with industrial and cold storage doors, the ability to work independently on site, and to mentor technicians as the team expands. A driver's licence is essential and some travel will be required.

Qualifications

• Strong experience installing and servicing industrial doors.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems on site.
• Confidence leading work and developing a team.
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel.
• Electrical licence would be highly regarded, but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and repair industrial and cold storage doors.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
• Coordinate site work and communicate with builders, customers and the Skatco team.
• Help recruit, mentor and develop technicians as the Melbourne team expands.
• Recommend improvements to installation methods, service delivery and team processes.
• Travel interstate when projects require it.

This is a hands-on, ground-up opportunity for an experienced door technician who wants to take ownership of a growing operation. You'll lead installations and service work, help develop a team around you and play a direct role in growing the business. As we build this part of the business, you'll report directly to senior management. Your experience, practical ideas and recommendations will have a real say in how the team operates and grows. For the right person, there is potential to progress into a national role, based on your success in developing the team and delivering strong project and customer outcomes.
