Job summary

Compas Pty Ltd is seeking a Lead Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to oversee SQL Server and Azure SQL across a complex Australian Government environment in Canberra.

You will install, configure and optimise high availability, performance, backups, and disaster recovery, using T-SQL and PowerShell, with NV1 clearance requirement for access to sensitive data. The role is based in ACT with a 12-month contract plus extensions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in a similar database administration role.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL experience, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Strong SQL/T-SQL and PowerShell skills for database administration and automation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills within team-oriented environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain MS SQL database instances for high availability and performance.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, replication, clustering, backups and disaster recovery.
• Manage and optimise SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI and database security configurations.
• Troubleshoot SQL platforms across on-premises, Azure and AWS environments and support cloud migrations.
