Job summary

Compas Pty Ltd is seeking a Lead SQL Database Administrator to oversee Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL platforms within a complex Australian Government environment. The role covers high availability, performance tuning, and cloud migration initiatives across on-premises, Azure, and AWS.

The successful candidate will have 7+ years in database administration, strong T-SQL and PowerShell skills, and experience with Always On Availability Groups. NV1 security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a similar database administration role.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL experience, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Proficient in SQL/T-SQL and PowerShell for automation and DB administration.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain MS SQL databases for high availability and performance.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, backups and DR strategies.
• Manage SSAS/SSIS/SSRS and Power BI configurations and security.

Lead SQL Database Administrator | Azure SQL

Lead Microsoft SQL database platforms across a complex Australian Government environment, supporting SQL Server, Azure SQL, high availability, performance optimisation and cloud migration initiatives.

Location: ACT

Contract Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions

Security Clearance Requirement: NV1

Essential Tasks

• Install, configure and maintain MS SQL database instances for high availability and performance.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, replication, clustering, backups and disaster recovery.
• Manage and optimise SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI and database security configurations.
• Troubleshoot SQL platforms across on-premises, Azure and AWS environments and support cloud migrations.

Key Criteria

• 7+ years’ experience in a similar database administration role.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL experience, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Strong SQL/T-SQL and PowerShell skills for database administration and automation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills within team-oriented environments.
