Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer, AI Security to design and build shared platform capabilities that enable secure AI workloads at enterprise scale. The role combines platform engineering with cloud, security and AI, translating requirements into automated, reusable services and paving-road patterns for enterprise adoption.

You will mentor engineers, establish guardrails, and work with AI platform teams, security, and infrastructure to ensure robust, observable, and scalable

Qualifications

• Experience in platform, software, cloud or site reliability engineering.
• Proven track record building shared technology platforms used by multiple teams.
• Experience with AI/ML platforms, AI gateways, model endpoints, agentic architectures, Kubernetes, proxies, service mesh, tracing or policy-as-code.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and engineering of platform capabilities protecting AI apps, services and workloads.
• Build reusable services, APIs, libraries, templates and automation for policy enforcement, configuration and telemetry.
• Design integration patterns securing AI traffic, model interactions, APIs and agentic architectures.
• Establish engineering standards and guardrails using automated tests, IaC, configuration-as-code and modern CD practices.
• Design capabilities for resilience, scalability and maintainability with attention to latency and capacity in AI paths.
• Lead prototypes and PoCs guiding experiments to secure production-ready services.
• Establish observability through metrics, logs, traces, dashboards and alerts.
• Mentor engineers and influence decisions across security, cloud, platform and app teams.
