Job summary

Central Tablelands Water is seeking a Network Operator to perform routine operational, maintenance and installation tasks across the water distribution network. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient water delivery to customers and requires adherence to CTW policies and WHS requirements.

The position focuses on maintaining mains, hydrants, meters, and accurate site records, with field-based duties and collaboration with team members to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Experience reading water meters and interpreting related documents.
• Prepare routine records and correspondence.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and renew trunk and reticulation mains, pumps, and pump stations in accordance with procedures.
• Maintain hydrants, valves and other water network appurtenances.
• Read, maintain, and install new water meters to support accurate recording of customer water usage.
• Check, record and report data associated with CTW's water distribution facilities on digital platforms.
• Complete relevant plant, stores, job-costing and operational documentation accurately.
• Maintain machinery, plant, vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Comply with Work Health and Safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.

Job description

The Network Operator undertakes routine operational, maintenance and installation activities across Central Tablelands Water's water distribution network to support the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of water to customers. The role maintains network assets, records operational information, completes required documentation and carries out field-based duties in accordance with CTW's policies, procedures and WHS requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain hydrants, valves and other water network appurtenances
• Read, maintain, and install new water meters, to support accurate recording of customer water usage
• Check, record and report data associated with CTW's water distribution facilities on digital platforms
• Complete relevant plant, stores, job-costing and operational documentation accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintain machinery, plant, vehicles, tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition
• Comply with Work Health and Safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.

About you

• Higher School Certificate, or equivalent qualification
• 6 to 12 months' relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read water meters and interpret relevant documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to prepare routine records and correspondence
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and work colleagues
• Ability to perform basic calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence, with a safe driving record
