Job summary

Sherwin-Williams Australia in Melbourne is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to support the Packaging Coatings division. You will develop understanding of key account processes, coating needs, and the technology used for coating evaluation within the Packaging Group.

The role covers formulation work under supervision, new product development for ANZ and Asia, and providing technical support to the ANZ team with reports and shelf-life extensions. Strong writing and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of key account processes and coating needs.
• Develop an understanding of current technology and methodology used for coating evaluation within the ANZ Packaging Group.
• Assist in resolving customer issues and complaints through laboratory investigation of issues and solutions.
• Carry out, under supervision, formulation modifications to ensure improvements required are achieved to maintain current business.
• Carry out, under supervision, new product development work that will meet current and future needs of customers in ANZ and Asia.
• Work with ANZ team members to provide support for current product range, including order processing, product shelf-life extensions and technical reports.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies and general housekeeping.
• Maintain technical documents as instructed, including TDS and SDS.
