Job summary

Ellenbrook Christian College (ECC) invites applications for a Laboratory Technician in the Science Department. This permanent, part-time role supports teachers by preparing materials, setting up experiments, and maintaining safety and equipment to enable engaging practical learning.

The successful candidate will have a TAFE qualification in Laboratory Practices, experience in school settings, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to a faith-aligned environment.

Qualifications

• TAFE qualification in Laboratory Practices (or equivalent) and relevant experience in a school or laboratory environment.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, chemical handling, storage, disposal requirements, and legislative compliance standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately prepare, organise and maintain laboratory equipment, materials and resources.
• Highly organised and collaborative, with excellent time management skills and a strong commitment to laboratory safety.
• Holds, or is willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check and Department of Education Criminal History Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up chemicals, materials and equipment for practical experiments and classroom demonstrations.
• Provide practical support before, during and after experiments, working closely with teaching staff to ensure successful delivery.
• Support and improve experimental procedures by identifying practical solutions and raising safety considerations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment through routine servicing, calibration, repairs and hazard reporting.
• Ensure the safe storage, organisation and management of chemicals, hazardous materials and laboratory facilities.
• Manage chemical and hazardous waste disposal in accordance with established guidelines, protocols and safety requirements.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated LaboratoryTechnician to join our Science Departmentin a permanent role commencing 27 January2027. This role will be 40 hours per week for 40 weeks peryear, equivalent to 0.8659 FTE with 12 weeks of paidleave.

The successful candidate will work with science teachers andother laboratory staff to prepare and supply materials to ensurethat students have safe and engaging practical learningexperiences.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christand is an active member of a Christian Church, living inaccordance with the Association’s Statement of Faith andEducational Objectives.
• TAFE qualification in Laboratory Practices (or equivalent)and relevant experience in a school or laboratoryenvironment.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, chemicalhandling, storage, disposal requirements, and legislativecompliance standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability toaccurately prepare, organise and maintain laboratory equipment,materials and resources.
• Highly organised and collaborative, with excellent timemanagement skills and a strong commitment to laboratorysafety.
