Job summary

EVT, via Rydges Adelaide, is seeking a reliable Kitchen Steward to support chefs and maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen in a high-volume environment.

You will be responsible for washing, sanitising, and assisting with basic food prep while upholding food safety standards and working a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, and events. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Kitchen Steward or Kitchen Hand desirable but not essential.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service and events.
• Physical capability to stand, lift, and perform repetitive tasks.
• A team player who communicates well with chefs and kitchen staff.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends around events calendar.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery, cookware, and kitchen equipment to a high standard, in line with food safety requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, benches, and equipment throughout and at the end of each shift.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks and the timely delivery of clean equipment during service.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling in line with hotel and environmental procedures.
• Safely operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment, reporting any faults promptly.
• Support the setup and pack-down of kitchen areas for conference, banquet, and restaurant services.
• Monitor and maintain stock of cleaning supplies and kitchen consumables.
• Follow all WH&S, hygiene, and food safety procedures at all times.

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Steward to join the team at Rydges Adelaide, supporting our chefs by keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready to perform, shift after shift. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in the details others might overlook and enjoys being a key part of a busy, high-volume kitchen.

What You'll Bring
