Job summary

Challenger Services Group in Sydney is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support chefs across events and daily operations. This flexible role offers morning and afternoon shifts, with training in food safety and HACCP to ensure high standards in a busy kitchen.

In this position you will operate dishwashers, keep areas clean and organized, and assist with general kitchen duties while following safety procedures. Applicants with a Food Handler Basics Certificate and a reliable, team-focused approach

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen or stewarding role.
• Food Handler Basics Certificate required.
• Uniform: steel cap boots and black trousers.
• Ability to work safely in a busy, physically active role.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial dishwashers and clean crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Keep kitchen areas clean, hygienic and organized.
• Safely storing clean equipment and preparing items for functions and events.
• Support chefs with general kitchen duties.
• Follow food safety, chemical handling and workplace safety procedures.

Shift Availability

• Morning shifts: Start between 6:00am and 8:00am.
• Afternoon shifts: Start in the afternoon and finish no later than midnight.

What You’ll Do

• Operating commercial dishwashers and cleaning crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Keeping kitchen areas clean, hygienic and organised.
• Safely storing clean equipment and preparing items for functions and events.
• Supporting chefs with general kitchen duties.
• Following food safety, chemical handling and workplace safety procedures.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, kitchen hand or stewarding role.
• A Food Handler Basics Certificate—essential.
• Uniform: Steel cap Boots and black trousers (required).
• A reliable approach and willingness to help your team.
• The ability to work safely in a busy, physically active role.
• An understanding of food safety, safe manual handling and chemical handling.
