A role with a little bit of everything.

Truffleduck is a high-end catering and events company with a reputation for exceptional food, service and attention to detail. From weddings and corporate events to private celebrations and major functions, we deliver memorable hospitality experiences across Geelong and beyond.

We are looking for a Kitchen Operations / Kitchen Hand to join our busy and passionate team.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys being part of a professional kitchen but is also interested in the bigger picture of food, events and hospitality.

The role

Working closely with our chefs and broader events team, you will help keep the kitchen operating efficiently while also getting involved in food preparation, event service and customer-facing activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • · Maintaining a clean, safe and highly organised kitchen environment
  • · Washing and cleaning dishes, cookware, equipment and kitchen utensils
  • · Ensuring clean equipment, utensils and supplies are returned to their appropriate storage locations
  • · Receiving and managing deliveries, checking orders for accuracy and quantity
  • · Identifying delivery discrepancies and ensuring chefs are promptly made aware of any issues
  • · Assisting chefs with food preparation, production and kitchen duties
  • · Supporting chefs during event service
  • · Assisting with kitchen set-up and pack-down
  • · Helping ensure food, equipment and service items are where they need to be when they need to be there
  • · Delivering food, equipment and supplies to event locations when required
  • · Representing Truffleduck professionally when interacting with clients, venues and suppliers
  • · Maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety and presentation
More than just a kitchen-hand role

At Truffleduck, we encourage our team to be involved and contribute ideas.

For the right person, there will be opportunities to explore your creative side, including assisting with menu refinement, developing recipes, trialing new ideas and contributing to the evolution of our food offering.

You will also have the opportunity to experience the full event journey — from preparation in the kitchen through to delivering and servicing food at some of Geelong’s most exciting events.

About you

You might already have experience in a commercial kitchen, catering or hospitality environment, or you may simply be someone with a genuine passion for food who is looking to develop their skills.

Most importantly, you will be:

  • · Reliable, energetic and willing to get stuck in
  • · Organised and naturally attentive to detail
  • · Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • · A team player who enjoys working alongside chefs and other hospitality professionals
  • · Proud of your work and committed to maintaining high standards
  • · Confident communicating with chefs, colleagues, suppliers, venues and customers
  • · Comfortable with both the practical and physical aspects of kitchen work
  • · Interested in food and keen to learn
  • · Someone who enjoys variety and isn’t afraid to take on whatever needs to be done

A current driver’s licence is desirable, and previous hospitality or kitchen experience will be highly regarded.

Why Truffleduck?

This is an opportunity to join an established, respected catering business where food, hospitality and events come together.

You won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day. You’ll work alongside experienced chefs, be exposed to a wide variety of events and have the opportunity to develop your skills across kitchen operations, food preparation, event service and customer-facing hospitality.

And if you have a creative streak and a genuine interest in food, we want to hear your ideas.
