Made in Italy Kitchens & Wardrobes is seeking a Kitchen & Wardrobe Designer / Sales Consultant in South Melbourne. The role combines creative space planning with client development, delivering designs from enquiry to approved order. Initially part-time with potential to grow to full-time, offering base salary plus commission.

You will conduct showroom consultations, prepare detailed joinery drawings and guide clients through materials and options, building lasting client relationships.

Qualifikationen

• Experience designing kitchens, wardrobes or residential joinery with a portfolio.
• Strong spatial planning and ability to produce plans, elevations, joinery details.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD/cabinetry design programs (Cabinet Vision, 2020 Design, Mosaic).
• Ability to learn Evolution design software; prior Evolution experience not required.
• Consultative sales experience including proposals, budgets, and guiding purchases.
• Excellent communication and rapport with homeowners and professionals.

From our South Melbourne showroom, we work with homeowners, architects, interior designers and developers on renovations, new homes and selected multi-residential projects. Our collections extend beyond kitchens and wardrobes to living areas, laundries and studies, giving our designers the opportunity to create coordinated interiors throughout the home.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an experienced Kitchen & Wardrobe Designer / Sales Consultant who enjoys both creative spatial design and building client relationships.

This role combines design and consultative sales. You will help clients clarify their needs, explore layouts and materials, understand their investment and progress confidently from an initial enquiry to an approved design and confirmed order.

The position will initially be part-time, with the potential to progress to full-time following a successful initial period and depending on business needs. Remuneration will include a base salary aligned with the market, plus commission.

YOUR ROLE

• Conduct showroom consultations to understand each client’s brief, lifestyle, budget and project requirements.
• Develop thoughtful kitchen, wardrobe and joinery layouts that balance aesthetics, functionality and practical constraints.
• Prepare 3D presentations, plans, elevations and detailed joinery drawings.
• Guide clients through materials, finishes, storage solutions and opening systems.
• Prepare and present quotations, explain options and manage design revisions.
• Follow up enquiries and proposals, build lasting relationships and convert qualified opportunities into sales.
• Maintain accurate project information and liaise with colleagues, suppliers and installers to support a smooth transition from design to delivery.

ABOUT YOU

You combine design judgement with commercial awareness and enjoy helping clients make considered decisions. You are attentive to detail, organised and comfortable taking ownership of both your designs and your sales follow-up.

We are looking for:

• Demonstrated experience designing kitchens, wardrobes or residential joinery, supported by a portfolio.
• Strong spatial planning skills and the ability to produce accurate plans, elevations and joinery details.
• Substantial hands-on experience in a major 3D parametric CAD or cabinetry design program, such as Cabinet Vision, 2020 Design, Mosaic or a comparable platform.
• The ability to learn new software and product systems confidently. Training will be provided in our corporate Evolution design software; previous Evolution experience is not required.
• Experience in consultative sales, including presenting proposals, discussing budgets, responding to concerns and guiding clients towards a purchase.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with homeowners and industry professionals.
• Strong organisation, accuracy and follow-through across multiple projects.
• Initiative, self-motivation and a practical approach to problem-solving.
• Confidence with Microsoft Office and everyday digital business tools.
• Current Australian working rights appropriate to the role.

Qualifications in interior design, interior architecture or a related discipline are highly regarded, as is equivalent relevant industry experience.
