Job summary

Brisbane Racing Club is seeking a reliable Kitchen and Pantry Hand to support the smooth operation of our kitchens and catering areas. You will maintain cleanliness, assist with basic preparation, and help ensure safe, quality food and service in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, initiative, and workload management, with responsibilities across dishwashing, storage, and general kitchen duties in a busy racing and events setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen hand or similar role, preferably within commercial catering or hospitality.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently when required.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused attitude.
• A commitment to workplace health and safety and food hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen, dining and catering areas.
• Operate dishwashing equipment, clean crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, cooking equipment and other items.
• Assist with basic food preparation, ingredient assembly and general pantry duties.
• Support stock deliveries, food distribution, and the organisation and cleanliness of storage areas.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards and equipment concerns.
• Follow all workplace health and safety policies, procedures and safe work practices.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and the wider Food & Beverage team to support daily operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Chef , you’ll play an important role in supporting the smooth operation of our kitchens and catering areas. From maintaining exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards to assisting with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties, you’ll help ensure that our team of chefs have everything they require to deliver safe, quality food and service.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride, initiative, works efficiently and understands the importance of teamwork in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen, dining and catering areas.
