Forge Construction is seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator to join our growing team and assist in the delivery of commercial and government construction projects across the ACT.

You will work closely with our Project Managers, Site Managers, clients, consultants and subcontractors, taking an active role across the full project lifecycle – from pre-construction and procurement through to site delivery, commissioning and final handover.

We are a small, collaborative construction team, so this isn't a role where you'll be sitting on the sidelines. You'll be given genuine responsibility, exposure to all aspects of project delivery and the opportunity to develop your career as the business continues to grow.

The Role

As a Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator, you will assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of multiple commercial and government construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with projects from initial planning and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover

• Preparing and maintaining construction programs, procurement schedules and project documentation

• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives

• Managing subcontractor procurement, including scopes of work, quotations and letting packages

• Monitoring project progress, program, costs and key deliverables

• Attending and contributing to client, consultant, subcontractor and site meetings

• Undertaking regular site inspections and monitoring quality, safety and program performance

• Assisting with RFIs, variations, progress claims and project reporting

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and consultant documentation

• Coordinating defects, commissioning, handover documentation and project close-out

• Supporting Site Managers and subcontractors to resolve day-to-day construction issues

• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with WHS requirements, project specifications and Forge Construction's quality standards

• Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys being involved in the detail of construction and wants to take genuine ownership of project outcomes.

Ideally, you will have:

• 3–5+ years' experience within the construction industry in a Project Coordinator, Contract Administrator, Junior Project Manager or similar role

• Experience working on commercial, government, education, refurbishment or fitout projects

• An understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing

• Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and consultants

• A good understanding of WHS requirements and construction site safety

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities

• The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects

• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving

• Confidence dealing directly with clients, subcontractors and consultants

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction/project management software

• A current Australian driver's license

A construction management, building, engineering or related qualification (either obtained or underway) would be highly regarded but is not essential where you can demonstrate relevant industry experience.
