Job description

Introduction: Join the Growth Platform for K-12 Schools

Schoolbox is the growth platform for K-12 schools — bringing learning, wellbeing, and communication together in one connected experience. Trusted by schools across Australia, Asia, and the Middle East, our platform helps school communities grow, adapt, and lead with confidence.

With over 20 years of innovation, we’re proud to be an Australian-founded edtech company on a global trajectory — scaling fast across international markets while staying true to our purpose: helping great schools grow.

We’re a tight-knit, values driven team that believes in purposeful work, real relationships, and long-term impact in education. If you’re looking to grow your career while supporting the schools that shape tomorrow — we’d love to meet you.

About The Role

As a Junior Full Stack Developer, you'll contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Schoolbox platform. Working within our Engineering team, you'll help build reliable software across frontend and backend technologies that supports educators, students and families every day.

You'll collaborate closely with Product Owners, Designers, Technical Architects, QA and fellow Engineers to deliver new features, improve existing functionality and resolve software defects. You'll develop your technical skills while gaining experience across the full technology stack and contributing to the ongoing improvement of a mature software platform.

In this role you will:
  • Develop and maintain frontend features using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS, following established patterns and design standards.
  • Implement backend features using object-oriented PHP and established application patterns.
  • Work with relational databases and SQL to support new features and improve existing functionality.
  • Investigate and resolve software defects, using application logs and error reports.
  • Write and maintain automated tests to support software quality and reduce regressions.
  • Follow established security practices and apply an understanding of common web application security risks.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality product features.
  • Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies, seeking feedback and guidance to improve your work.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support coding, testing and troubleshooting.
About You
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback.
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and developing your technical skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile product development environment.
  • At least one year of hands‑on software development experience using object-oriented programming principles.
  • Foundational experience with PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Basic experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL, including writing SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS or Azure.
  • An understanding of common web application security risks and secure coding practices.
  • Experience with Vue.js or React, Docker, REST APIs and CI/CD practices will be highly regarded.
