Job summary

Schoolbox Pty Ltd. is looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer to contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Schoolbox platform. You’ll work across frontend and backend technologies to support educators, students and families in daily operations.

You’ll collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, Technical Architects, QA and Engineers to deliver new features, improve functionality and address defects, while learning the full technology stack in a mature software platform.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback.
• A proactive approach to learning new technologies and developing your technical skills.
• Experience working in an Agile product development environment.
• At least one year of hands-on software development experience using object-oriented programming principles.
• Basic experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL, including writing SQL queries.
• Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS or Azure.
• An understanding of common web application security risks and secure coding practices
• Experience with Vue.js or React, Docker, REST APIs and CI/CD practices will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Implement backend features using object-oriented PHP and established application patterns.
• Work with relational databases and SQL to support new features and improve existing functionality.
• Investigate and resolve software defects, using application logs and error reports.
• Write and maintain automated tests to support software quality and reduce regressions.
• Follow established security practices and apply an understanding of common web application security risks.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality product features.
• Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies, seeking feedback and guidance to improve your work.
• Use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support coding, testing and troubleshooting.
