Job summary

Sami Strategy Co. is a fast-growing startup in Melbourne focused on construction estimating, tender preparation, contract administration and project management.

You’ll own tenders, interact directly with clients and builders, and follow projects from estimate through to award and execution. We value a proactive estimator with 2–3+ years’ experience, strong drawing interpretation, and a practical understanding of construction methods.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in residential or commercial estimating.
• Understanding of construction methodologies and able to interpret drawings.
• Excellent communication, time management and organisation.
• High attention to detail with professional and error-free proposals.
• System- and process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Fast learner in a growing startup environment.
• Current driver licence and own transport for site visits.
• Bluebeam or Planswift proficiency.
• Structural engineering and detailed carpentry knowledge.
• Formal qualifications welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

Sami Strategy Co. is a fast-growing start up organisation based in Melbourne, providing services that includes construction estimating, tender preparation and negotiation, contract administration and project management, tailoring to the unique needs of each client.

We partner with subcontractors, builders, developers, homeowners, and owners corporations to deliver projects with clarity, confidence, and integrity. We help our clients win work, reduce risk, control budgets, and meet deadlines so they can focus on what they do best.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an estimator with a few years behind them who’s driven and passionate about construction.

Because we're small, you’ll gain a range of experience. You'll carry your own tenders, deal directly with clients and builders, and see projects through past award. You’ll be working closely with our directors, pricing jobs to win, negotiating and also seeing what happens to that estimate once the job starts.

What you’ll be doing

Examine tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope, risks, to review mark-ups and detailed take offs by estimators

Accurately measure and quantify materials and labour for detailed cost estimates

Liaise and coordinate several offshore estimators/engineers and provide training as required

Build and maintain relationships with clients and builders

Learn the ropes of negotiating with builders to win projects for our clients.

Assist with project coordination for tenders won

Maintain relationships with suppliers

Managing administration our project administration systems, templates and trackers

What are we looking for

2-3+ years’ experiencein residential or commercial estimating within the building and construction industry

An understanding in construction methodologies, trade sequencing, and able to accurately interpreting drawings

Excellent communication skills, with good time management and organisation skills to manage tasks efficiently

High attention to detail, ensuring proposals and communication are professional and free from grammatical errors

System and process driven, with a continuous improvement mindset

Quick learner who loves a challenging, fast-paced environment and can keep up with a growing company

Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude

Current driver licence and own transport for site visits

Bluebeam or Planswift user

Structural engineering and detailed carpentry knowledge

Formal qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, architecture, engineering are welcome, but not essential.
