FinXL is seeking a Java Developer to join its Software Engineering Practice for a 12-month contract in Sydney Olympic Park. The role focuses on core Java/Spring development with exposure to Angular, Node.js, and containerization technologies in a biometrics initiative.

The ideal candidate will contribute in an agile team, support long-term programs of work, and help modernize legacy solutions while ensuring high reliability and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

FinXL is seeking a Java Developer to join our Software Engineering Practice and be deployed with a leading Government client on a 12 months contract in Sydney Olympic Park.

This position combines core Java and Spring development with exposure to modern containerization and web frameworks on an essential biometrics initiative. You will serve as an active contributor within an agile team environment, developing and modernizing critical software applications that support public safety and biometric identification capabilities. Support key long-term programs of work! Java, Spring, Angular, and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust application features using Java and Spring framework.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary software teams to implement end-to-end features using Angular and Node.js.
• Develop scripts and microservices utilizing Python to support core platform functionality.
• Support containerization efforts and application deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, and Postman.
• Assist in system modernization efforts to transition legacy solutions into integrated biometric platforms.
• Participate in code reviews, technical testing, and quality assurance to ensure high system reliability.

Key Skills & Experience

• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required to successfully gain a police baseline clearance.
• Strong commercial development background with Java and the Spring framework ecosystem.
• Solid hands-on experience working with full-stack tools like Angular and Node.js.
• Practical experience using Python for backend development and automation scripting.
• Working knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Postman.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical ideas clearly.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced team environment.

Additional Details

• 12 months contract with a Government client.
