Job summary

AfterDark Technology, a Brisbane-based MSP, seeks a senior IT Systems Engineer/Project Engineer to lead Microsoft 365, Azure, and infrastructure projects for SMB and mid-market clients from Bowen Hills, QLD. Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Level 3/Infrastructure/MSP roles.
• Experience delivering IT infra and cloud projects end-to-end.
• Strong knowledge across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams Voice, Windows Server, Fortinet.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Microsoft 365, Azure, and infrastructure projects for SMB and mid-market clients.
• Lead tenant-to-tenant migrations, Exchange Online migrations, and Microsoft 365 deployments.
• Deploy and manage Intune, Entra ID, Conditional Access, and endpoint management solutions.
• Implement and support Azure services and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Configure and maintain Windows Server and core networking infrastructure.
• Deliver network refreshes and Fortinet firewall deployments.
• Assist with cybersecurity uplift, backups, and best-practice security.
• Onboard new clients and conduct technical discovery.
• Provide Level 3 escalation support as needed.
• Create and maintain technical docs and implementation standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve operations and service delivery.

About the role

AfterDark Technology is seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer / Project Engineer to join our growing team in Bowen Hills, QLD.

This is a senior technical role suited to an engineer who enjoys delivering infrastructure and cloud projects across modern Microsoft environments. Working within our MSP team, you will lead and contribute to project delivery, client onboarding, cloud migrations, security uplift initiatives, and infrastructure improvements for a diverse client base across Australia.

This role is heavily project-focused, with approximately 85% project delivery and 15% escalations/support work.

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously, communicate confidently with clients, and take ownership of technical outcomes from planning through to implementation.

What you'll be doing

• Deliver Microsoft 365, Azure, and infrastructure projects for SMB and mid-market clients

• Lead and assist with tenant-to-tenant migrations, Exchange Online migrations, and Microsoft 365 deployments

• Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), Conditional Access, and endpoint management solutions

• Implement and support Azure services and hybrid infrastructure environments

• Configure and maintain Windows Server environments and core networking infrastructure

What we're looking for

• 5+ years’ experience in a Level 3, Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or MSP Project Engineer role

• Experience working within an MSP environment

• Demonstrated experience delivering IT infrastructure and cloud projects end-to-end

• Strong technical knowledge across:

  • Microsoft 365

  • Azure

  • Intune

  • Entra ID / Azure AD

  • Exchange Online

  • SharePoint Online

  • Teams Voice

  • Windows Server

  • Fortinet networking and firewall solutions

• Experience with RMM and PSA platforms such as N-central and Autotask

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders

• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within timeframes

• Relevant Microsoft certifications highly regarded
