Job summary

Newcastle Anglican is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to provide technical support and systems administration across the organisation, including IT operations, digital platforms, cyber security and AI-enabled technologies.

The role is a permanent full-time position with on-call duties. The successful candidate will manage SQL Server, IIS, Active Directory and other Microsoft server technologies while contributing to upgrades, security and documentation.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in IT or related certifications.
• Available to work on an on-call roster.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, IIS, Active Directory and other key Microsoft server technologies.
• High level specialist knowledge of common IT products/applications.
• Broad understanding of desktop applications, systems administration and network engineering.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking problem diagnoses, correction and escalated support of organisation IT technologies and applications.
• Participating in IT upgrades (hardware and software) and other general maintenance tasks.
• Monitoring new releases and patches to operating systems, hardware and applications and testing strategies.
• Providing specialised direct and escalated technical support from a central location via phone, direct request or email.
• Developing and maintaining specialist knowledge in supported products and associated products.
• Negotiating timeframes for solution implementation and updating users on progress.
• Identifying complex technical issues for escalation and using escalation processes.
• Escalating process or project improvements to enhance product usage and reduce support/call volume.

What are we looking for?

• Undertaking problem diagnoses, correction and escalated support of organisation IT technologies and applications as required.
• Participating in IT upgrades (hardware and software) and other general maintenance tasks.
• Monitoring new releases and patches to operating systems, hardware and applications and making recommendations on implementation as well as testing strategies as required.
• Providing specialised direct and, if required, escalated technical support from a central location either by telephone, direct request or email.
• Developing and maintaining specialist knowledge and skill in focused area and in supported products and the products associated with supported products, as required.
• Negotiating timeframes for solution implementation with users and updating users on progress during problem resolution.
• Identifying more complex technical issues for escalation to more senior staff/external vendors and effectively using the pre-established escalation process.
• Escalating process or project improvements to relevant parties within the organisation in order to enhance the current use of products or reduce incoming support/call volume and keeping Management aware of potential areas for product, services and client education.

About you?

• Tertiary qualifications and or certifications in IT related disciplines
• Available to work on an on call roster
• Knowledge of SQL Server, IIS, Active Directory and other key Microsoft server technologies
• High level specialist knowledge of basic IT products/applications
• Broad understanding of common desktop applications, systems administration and network engineering
• A strong understanding of network protocols particularly TCP/IP and exposure to Wide Area Networks
• Solid experience in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation
