Job summary

Newcastle Anglican is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to provide technical support and systems administration across the organization, including IT operations, digital platforms, cyber security and approved AI-enabled technologies.

The role is a Permanent Full Time vacancy based in Newcastle, NSW. Responsibilities include upgrades, monitoring, and escalating complex issues, with on-call duties and a focus on maintaining robust IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Tertiary IT qualifications or certifications.
• Able to work on an on-call roster.
• Familiar with SQL Server, IIS and Active Directory.
• Broad understanding of desktop applications and network engineering.
• Experience writing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve IT issues and escalate as needed.
• Assist with IT upgrades and general maintenance tasks.
• Monitor releases and patches to OS, hardware and apps; advise on implementations.
• Provide direct and escalated technical support from a central location.
• Develop specialist knowledge of supported products and related tech.
• Negotiate timelines and update users during resolution.
• Escalate complex issues to senior staff or vendors.
• Suggest process improvements to reduce support volume.
