Job summary

INIT is seeking an IT Support Engineer in Sydney to deliver day-to-day IT support across hardware, software, networking and cloud technologies. You will manage end-user devices via Microsoft Entra ID and Intune, support office tech, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to security and asset management.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in IT support, strong Windows and Microsoft 365 skills, experience with JIRA/ServiceNow, and a service-oriented mindset with good English communication.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or desktop support environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365 technologies including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Office applications.
• Experience administering users and devices through Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
• Exposure to endpoint security solutions including Microsoft Defender.
• Experience working with ticketing systems such as JIRA and ServiceNow.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with clear written and spoken English.
• The ability to work independently, prioritise workload effectively, and operate in a fast-paced support environment.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure and manage laptops and workstations for employees using Microsoft Entra ID and Intune, including user accounts, device enrolment, configuration, compliance and security policies.
• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for hardware, software, network and account issues, tracked via JIRA
• Manage and support endpoint security solutions, including Microsoft Defender and Sophos VPN Solution
• Set up and support office and meeting room equipment, including printers, monitors, headsets and video conferencing systems
• Install, configure and license standard desktop and SOE applications
• Triage incidents and escalates complex issues to L3 support, internal engineering teams or external vendors as required
• Maintain the IT asset register and manage hardware stock and accessories
• Support and administer office network infrastructure, including Cisco switching, wireless and Sophos firewalls
• Create and maintain technical documentation, build guides and knowledge base articles
• Support ISO certification activities (e.g. ISO 27001), including documentation and audit preparation
• Liaise with HR, suppliers and manufacturers on onboarding, procurement, warranties and repairs
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in endpoint, user and IT security
• Experience with migration of network infrastructure as part of an office move.
• Setting up and establishing a test lab.
