Job summary
Operandi Consulting seeks an IT Support & Legacy Systems Engineer for Melbourne, VIC. This fixed-term contract runs to at least 30 June 2027, with 3–4 days per week onsite and reporting to the IT Manager. Immediate start and handover provided.
You'll own and support legacy and web systems during a key ERP/e-commerce transition, including Classic ASP/VBScript, HTML/JS, SQL, Delphi/Pascal, and IIS; you will also document interfaces and support stakeholders across sales, warehouse and finance.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Classic ASP/VBScript, HTML/JavaScript, SQL, Delphi/Pascal, IIS administration and Microsoft Access.
- Strong autonomous problem-solving in undocumented, legacy environments.
- Clear, business-friendly communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Our client is a privately owned, diversified Australian group with 40+ years of trading history, operating multiple divisions across consumer and industrial product categories with 200+ staff nationally. The business is mid-transformation — migrating off its legacy ERP to Oracle NetSuite, with its webshop and payment gateways moving to a modern commerce platform (likely BigCommerce).
Working alongside the IT Manager, you'll own and support the existing legacy and web systems while playing a hands‑on role in this transition. It's a mixed legacy development, web systems and light IT support role, suited to a self‑directed problem solver who's comfortable in undocumented, "old-school" codebases and can help hold the day-to-day running of the business together while new platforms are stood up.
- Write and tune SQL queries and stored procedures; support Microsoft Access based tools and legacy data.
- Maintain and update the catalogue websites at source-code level.

- Write and tune SQL queries and stored procedures; support Microsoft Access based tools and legacy data.
- Maintain and update the catalogue websites at source-code level.
- Administer IIS web servers, manage hosting migrations and site changes, and support EDI integrations.
- Manage the online shop and payment gateways, working toward consolidation onto the new commerce platform.
- Support the NetSuite migration — data extraction, cleansing and validation — and build integrations/middleware via RESTful APIs.
- Data Migration skills and experience
- Diagram and document systems, interfaces and data flows where none currently exist.
- Provide light end-user IT support (Windows issues, PC moves, laptop setup) as a secondary responsibility.
- Work closely with sales, warehouse and finance teams, translating technical issues into plain language.
- Hands‑on experience with Classic ASP/VBScript, HTML/JavaScript, SQL, Delphi/Pascal, IIS administration and Microsoft Access.
- Strong autonomous problem‑solving in undocumented, legacy environments — comfortable reverse‑engineering from source code.
- Clear, business-friendly communication with non-technical stakeholders.
- RESTful API integration experience, ideally with Oracle NetSuite or a comparable ERP.
- E-commerce platform migration experience (BigCommerce, Shopify or similar), payment gateway management and EDI exposure.
- ERP data extraction/cleansing/migration experience, PHP, and experience building custom integrations or middleware.
- Immediate start with a genuine handover from the outgoing team member.
- Real ownership — run the legacy environment with minimal supervision from day one.
- A central, hands‑on role in a major ERP and e‑commerce transformation.
- Small, high-trust IT team and a secured contract through to at least 30 June 2027.
- Predominantly on‑site work in Hawthorn East location
