Job summary

Operandi Consulting is seeking a hands-on IT generalist in Melbourne to own web systems, databases and applications across the business. You’ll work directly with the IT Manager, providing high autonomy and practical problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

The role covers web tech, Delphi 11 applications, SQL/T-SQL, and payment gateway management as part of a broader ERP upgrade project. Immediate or short-notice availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with legacy web technologies such as classic ASP, VBScript, HTML, JS, and PHP.
• Strong SQL skills; familiarity with Delphi and Microsoft Access.
• Pragmatic, self-sufficient problem-solver who can deliver with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Web systems management including IIS administration and source code updates.
• Delphi 11 application support and enhancements.
• Write and tune SQL queries; support Microsoft Access databases.
• Manage payment gateway operations with multiple providers; contribute to ERP consolidation.

Job description

A genuine all-rounder role for someone who solves problems rather than escalates them.

Working directly alongside the IT Manager, you'll be the go-to technical person across the business, owning the web systems, databases and applications that keep day-to-day operations running. It's hands-on and high-autonomy: you'll be trusted to work things out and get them done.

The current incumbent is moving on in October and is documenting the environment before he leaves, so you won't be starting cold. Candidates available immediately or on short notice are strongly preferred.

What you'll be working on

• Web systems management, reviewing and updating source code, site changes, IIS administration
• Delphi 11 application support and enhancements
• Writing and tuning SQL queries; supporting Microsoft Access databases
• Payment gateway operations, currently manual across multiple third-party providers, with a project underway to consolidate onto a single provider ahead of a new NetSuite ERP implementation
• Some general IT support as needed, Windows troubleshooting, laptop provisioning, workstation moves

What we're looking for

• Solid experience with legacy web technologies (classic ASP, VBScript, HTML, JS, PHP) and confidence reading and modifying existing code
• Strong SQL skills; exposure to Delphi and Microsoft Access
• A pragmatic problem-solver who works well with minimal supervision and sees things through
• Immediate or short-notice availability ideal
