Job summary

Symal Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our IT team in Brisbane, delivering hands-on technology support across Queensland operations. The role is based between Eight Mile Plains and Carole Park with regular travel to project sites and Symal offices.

You will provide Level 2 onsite IT support, deploy end-user tech, troubleshoot hardware/connectivity, and mobilise technology for new construction projects. A driver license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years' experience in IT support, desktop support or field services.
• Experience with Windows 11 and Microsoft 365.
• Laptop, desktop and mobile device deployment experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune.
• Hardware troubleshooting across laptops, desktops, printers and peripherals.
• Printers and multifunction devices support.
• Meeting room and collaboration tech deployment and support.
• Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience with Windows Autopilot, HaloITSM or ManageEngine in construction/infrastructure environments.
• Current Australian Driver Licence; willingness to travel between Symal locations and project sites.

Symal is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our IT team in Brisbane, providing hands‑on technology support across our Queensland operations.

This role will be based between our Eight Mile Plains and Carole Park locations, with regular travel to Symal offices and construction project sites as required. You'll need to be comfortable working across both locations rather than being permanently based at just one.

The role

As our Field Service Engineer, you'll be one of the key faces of IT for our Queensland teams.

You’ll provide Level 2 technical support, deploy and maintain end-user technology, troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues, and help mobilise the technology required when new construction projects get underway.

Working alongside our Service Desk, Senior Field Service Engineer, Modern Workplace Engineer and Cloud Engineer, you’ll help keep our people connected and productive across offices, project sites and remote locations.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing Level 2 onsite IT support across our Eight Mile Plains and Carole Park locations, as well as project sites
• Troubleshooting Windows 11, Microsoft 365, laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals
• Configuring and deploying laptops, tablets and mobile devices
• Supporting Microsoft Intune enrolled devices and Windows Autopilot deployments
• Installing and supporting printers, multifunction devices and meeting room technology
• Setting up IT infrastructure for new construction sites, relocations and demobilisations
• Configuring Peplink or similar networking technology
• Supporting temporary networks, internet connectivity and site Wi‑Fi
• Coordinating hardware repairs, replacements and warranty claims
• Supporting employee onboarding and offboarding
• Maintaining accurate IT asset and equipment records
• Working closely with project teams to make sure their technology is ready when and where they need it
• Contributing to IT projects and continuously improving the way we support our people

About You

You’ll ideally have 2 to 4 years' experience in IT support, desktop support or field services and enjoy being out in the business rather than providing support entirely remotely.

We’re looking for experience with:

• Windows 11 and Microsoft 365
• Laptop, desktop and mobile device deployment
• Microsoft Intune
• Hardware troubleshooting
• Printers and multifunction devices
• Meeting room and collaboration technology
• Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting
• Peplink or similar networking equipment
• Strong customer service and stakeholder communication

Experience with Windows Autopilot, HaloITSM, ManageEngine or construction/infrastructure environments would be highly regarded.

Microsoft Fundamentals or ITIL Foundation certification would also be beneficial.

You’ll need a current Australian Driver Licence and the flexibility to travel between Symal locations and project sites. A White Card would be advantageous, or you’ll need to be willing to obtain one.

Where you’ll be working

This is important.

The role is based across two primary Brisbane locations:

• Eight Mile Plains
• Carole Park

You’ll spend time across both locations depending on operational requirements, as well as visiting construction project sites when onsite IT support or technology deployment is required.

This is therefore ideally suited to someone who enjoys a mobile, hands‑on field services role rather than looking for a position based permanently at one office.
