Job summary
Conflux Technology in Geelong, Australia, is seeking a practical IT Manager to own the internal tech landscape, including security, governance and emerging technologies. Qualifications

- Experience managing outsourced IT services, MSPs or multiple technology vendors.
- Strong practical knowledge across IT operations, infrastructure, devices and business systems.
- Experience managing budgets, suppliers and commercial technology relationships.
- Exposure to IT security, governance, compliance, risk or audit requirements.
- Familiarity with ASD Essential Eight, DISP-aligned environments, ISO 27001 or defence-sector security requirements would be highly regarded.
- Experience in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another regulated environment would also be valuable.

This is not an IT Manager role where you simply manage the ticket queue from a distance.
Conflux Technology is looking for a practical, commercially minded and hands‑on IT Manager to take ownership of our internal technology environment.
You will manage key technology partners, oversee systems and applications, support strategic technology initiatives and stay close enough to the day‑to‑day environment to step in when something needs fixing, checking or sorting out.
Sometimes good IT management means strategy, governance and vendor negotiations. Sometimes it means working out why someone’s laptop is not doing what it is supposed to do.
Conflux Technology is a global heat exchange technology company headquartered in Waurn Ponds, Geelong.
Our technology began in Formula One engineering and is now applied across aerospace, defence, automotive, space and advanced industrial markets.
We design and manufacture advanced heat exchangers using additive manufacturing and work with customers across Australia, Europe, the United States and Japan.

This is a broad IT Manager role with important security, compliance and emerging technology responsibilities.
You will oversee Conflux’s internal technology environment while managing external IT and security providers across infrastructure, IT service management and cybersecurity services.
The role also carries operational Security Officer responsibilities for technology and cybersecurity, helping ensure devices, systems, access, software and staff technology practices remain secure and compliant.
You will also own the strategy, security and governance of AI tools and other emerging technology, and manage the AI Practice Manager who guides automation, AI and coding practices across the business.
This is not a specialist cybersecurity role. You do need enough exposure to IT security, governance, compliance or risk to understand what good looks like, ask the right questions, manage specialist providers and make sure the work gets done.

This role will suit someone who can move comfortably between operational detail and higher‑level technology priorities.
You might currently be an IT Manager, Technology Manager, IT Operations Manager, Systems Manager or a senior IT professional ready to take broader ownership.
You will ideally bring:
Broad IT management experience within a small or mid‑sized organisation
Experience managing outsourced IT services, MSPs or multiple technology vendors
Strong practical knowledge across IT operations, infrastructure, devices and business systems
Experience managing budgets, suppliers and commercial technology relationships
Exposure to IT security, governance, compliance, risk or audit requirements
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, cloud identity, endpoint and data protection controls
Strong communication skills with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
The judgement to know when to solve something yourself and when to bring in specialist expertise
A willingness to roll your sleeves up when required
Familiarity with the ASD Essential Eight, DISP‑aligned environments, ISO 27001 or defence‑sector security requirements would be highly regarded.
Experience in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another regulated environment would also be valuable.
This role can be structured from 0.6 FTE through to full‑time.
It is based at our Waurn Ponds office and the primary expectation is that you will work on‑site, with flexibility to work remotely from time to time where appropriate.
This is not a remote‑first role. A big part of the job involves being close to the technology environment, supporting people and dealing with practical IT issues as they arise.
Some IT problems simply cannot be diagnosed properly from the living room.
The full‑time equivalent salary is expected to sit at up to $135,000 + Super, depending on experience.

You will need full working rights in Australia and the ability to obtain and maintain the required Australian Government security clearance.
Previous defence experience or an existing clearance is not essential.
