Job summary

Conflux Technology in Geelong, Australia, is seeking a practical IT Manager to own the internal tech landscape, including security, governance and emerging technologies. You will manage external IT partners, oversee operations, budgets and vendor contracts while staying hands-on to fix issues and optimise systems.

This role covers cybersecurity responsibilities, audit readiness and ASD Essential Eight alignment, with strategic input on AI governance and the AI Practice Manager.

Qualifications

• Broad IT management experience within a small or mid-sized organisation.
• Experience managing outsourced IT services, MSPs or multiple technology vendors.
• Strong practical knowledge across IT operations, infrastructure, devices and business systems.
• Experience managing budgets, suppliers and commercial technology relationships.
• Exposure to IT security, governance, compliance, risk or audit requirements.
• Familiarity with ASD Essential Eight, DISP-aligned environments, ISO 27001 or defence-sector security requirements would be highly regarded.
• Experience in defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another regulated environment would also be valuable.

Responsibilities

• Managing external IT, software, hardware and security providers
• Overseeing day‑to‑day IT operations while remaining hands‑on when practical support is required
• Managing IT budgets, contracts, software licensing, renewals and business applications
• Supporting Conflux’s IT strategy, technology roadmap and improvement initiatives
• Managing secure onboarding, off‑boarding, access and device controls
• Maintaining IT security, compliance and risk requirements, including audit readiness
• Supporting staff security awareness and working with ASD Essential Eight and other defence‑related requirements
• Owning the strategy, security and governance of AI and emerging technology, including managing the AI Practice Manager
