Job summary

Foundry Talent Partners is seeking an Investment Analyst for our client, an established Australian asset manager in Sydney. The role covers the full investment process from research and portfolio construction through to trading, compliance and performance reporting.

You’ll work with senior portfolio managers, build models in Excel, analyse markets, and prepare materials for the investment committee. This is a hands-on, collaborative role in a small team.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years’ experience in investment research or related role.
• Solid understanding of Australian investment markets, assets and platforms.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint with an analytical mindset.
• Degree in finance or economics; CFA progress well regarded.
• Clear written and verbal communicator; autonomous and team player.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is an established Australian asset manager running a range of investment strategies across multiple asset classes for institutional, wholesale and high net worth investors. They are looking for an Investment Analyst to join a small, high-performing investment team in Sydney.

This is a hands-on role covering the full investment process, from research and portfolio construction through to portfolio management, trading, compliance and performance reporting. You’ll work closely with senior portfolio managers who bring decades of domestic and global experience, and sit within the firm’s investment committee process.

What you’ll be doing

• Researching and analysing investment opportunities across a range of asset classes
• Building and maintaining models to support portfolio construction, risk and performance analysis
• Monitoring markets and economic conditions, and helping shape the team’s investment views
• Preparing materials for investment committee and senior portfolio managers
• Supporting the day-to-day running of portfolios, including positioning, implementation and oversight
• Producing performance and portfolio reporting for internal and client audiences
• Contributing ideas to new products and to improving the overall investment process

About you

• 1 to 4 years’ experience in investment research, portfolio management or a related role within funds management, wealth management, asset consulting or a research house
• Solid understanding of Australian investment markets, asset classes and product structures such as managed funds, managed accounts and platforms
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Degree in finance, economics or a similar discipline; progress towards the CFA well regarded
• Clear written and verbal communicator who works well autonomously and as part of a small team
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a genuine interest in markets
