Job summary

Water Corporation is seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to join our Cloud Platform team in Western Australia. You will design, build and improve enterprise integrations that connect systems, data and applications, supporting secure and scalable operations across the region.

You will work with APIs, messaging and event-driven approaches, maintain the IBM WebMethods platform, and contribute to modernisation efforts with cloud-native solutions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in IT/CS/Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Significant experience building and supporting enterprise integrations.
  • Experience with IBM WebMethods and modern integration tech.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and deploy secure, scalable integration solutions.
  • Build and support APIs, messaging services and event-driven integrations.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Integration Engineer to join our Cloud Platform team and play a key role in connecting the systems, applications and data that support essential services across Western Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across both established and emerging integration technologies, helping modernise our integration landscape while ensuring critical business systems remain secure, reliable and high performing.

You'll design, build, support and continuously improve enterprise integrations that enable seamless information flow across the organisation, while contributing to our transition towards modern cloud-native integration capabilities.

What the role will involve

As a Specialist – Integration Engineer, you’ll:

  • Design, develop, test and deploy secure, scalable and supportable integration solutions.
  • Build and support APIs, messaging services, event-driven integrations and cloud-native integration capabilities.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing IBM webMethods integration platform while supporting ongoing modernisation initiatives.
  • Apply integration architecture standards, security controls and best-practice engineering approaches.
  • Develop automated testing and deployment pipelines to improve quality and reliability.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to project teams, product owners and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise integration services to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Participate in incident resolution, problem management and continuous service improvement activities.
  • Contribute to integration standards, reusable patterns and engineering practices across the organisation.
  • Evaluate emerging integration technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Degree qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise application and data integrations within complex environments.
  • Experience working with enterprise integration platforms such as IBM webMethods.
  • Experience delivering modern integration solutions using APIs, messaging technologies, event-driven architectures, cloud-native services or Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) solutions.
  • Strong understanding of integration architecture, data transformation, API security, identity management, encryption and secure integration practices.
  • Experience applying modern software engineering practices including source control, automated testing, CI/CD and production support.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex end-to-end technical issues across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical business outcomes.
Highly regarded
  • Certifications or demonstrated experience in IBM webMethods, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or related integration technologies.
  • Experience working in utilities, critical infrastructure, government or other highly regulated environments.
