Job summary

SMC Corporation is seeking a Technical Design Engineer to support the Sales team and customers, designing engineering solutions that meet statutory regulations and SMC quality standards. You will deliver technical documentation, assist operations, and provide robust customer service across ANZ.

The role emphasizes CAD design, PLC programming, and ensuring “fit for purpose” designs while maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of new product developments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• PLC programming experience preferred.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering is essential: Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering with relevant industry experience (preferred) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Design products and systems which meet AU/NZ regulatory requirements.
• Develop products and systems that meet SMC ANZ standards for technical quality and cost effectiveness.
• Produce technical design documents and research references per industry standards.
• Provide technical and engineering support to Sales, Production, Quality, Logistics and Customer Service groups.
• Review products and applications and make recommendations to minimize risk to the company.
• Ensure compliance of imported components with electrical compliance and local standards.
