Job summary

The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in Newport, Sydney's Northern Beaches, is seeking a dynamic Sous Chef to join our culinary team. You will work closely with the Head Chef, leading the kitchen unit, mentoring staff, and contributing to modern, varied menus that delight members.

With at least 5 years in a similar role, you will manage rosters, ordering, and day-to-day operations, ensuring top-tier food quality, presentation, and hygiene while upholding WHS standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing kitchen team.
• Creative flair for designing modern, varied menus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Administrative experience in kitchen management (rosters, ordering) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of WHS and hygiene practices.
• Preferably, a local resident of the Northern Beaches.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with our Head Chef to lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team with a hands-on approach.
• Plan and create contemporary menus that excite.
• Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene practices.
• Oversee administrative duties such as rosters and ordering, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
• Exhibit strong work ethic, self-motivation, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Demonstrate commercial and financial acumen in all kitchen activities.
• Flexibility to work a varied roster, including weekdays and weekends.
