Job summary

Montmorency Secondary College in Melbourne’s north‑east seeks a classroom teacher to deliver quality teaching across year levels. The role focuses on planning, preparation and teaching to achieve student outcomes, with ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

The successful candidate will contribute to school programs beyond the classroom as experience grows, and may undertake additional duties aligned with salary range, qualifications, and school priorities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience planning for high-impact teaching strategies based on how students learn and evaluating impact on learning growth.
• Experience monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching, with feedback to students and parents.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with students, parents, colleagues and the school community.
• Behaviours and attitudes aligned with Department values; commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
• Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or programs.
• Undertake other classroom teaching and organizational duties as directed by the Principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Undertake other non-teaching supervisory duties.
