Job description

Ringers Western is growing fast, and our technology team is growing with it. We are looking for an Infrastructure, Security & Support Lead to own one of the three pillars of our tech department: the network, the infrastructure, the security programme and the IT support service that keeps HQ, our distribution centre and every store trading. This is the role for someone who has spent two or three years on a service desk, most likely at a manage device provider, moved into networks and security, been part of a security improvement programme, and is now ready to own it rather than execute someone else's plan. You will get that ownership from day one, with direct mentoring from the Head of Technology, vendor partners and a business growing quickly enough that the scope keeps growing with you.

About the role

You own the network across HQ, the warehouse and our stores. Every device the business runs on. The security remediation programme coming out of our recent cybersecurity assessment. Our IT partner, internet and telco relationships. The technology build for every new store we open. And the IT support service itself, including supervising and developing our Support Team.

It is a genuine mix of hands‑on work and ownership. Some weeks you are deep in a firewall rule set or standing up a new store. Others you are chairing the monthly risk and security review, holding a vendor to their dates, or building the case for the next piece of investment.

Key responsibilities

Lead the delivery of high-quality IT support across our Head Office, Distribution Centre and retail stores.

Supervise, coach and develop the IT Support Team while managing service levels and work quality.

Deliver & maintain Cybersecurity health and key improvements

Maintain the performance and security of networks, infrastructure and hardware across all locations.

Maintain and enhance Google Workspace configurations & controls

Manage IT assets throughout their full lifecycle, from procurement and deployment to replacement.

Oversee IT vendors and service providers, ensuring agreed scope, timelines and standards are met.

Lead end-to-end technology rollouts for new store openings.

Maintain clear IT documentation and ensure appropriate handovers before new systems reach production.

About you

2–3 years’ experience across networking and/or cybersecurity, ideally within a managed service provider or multi-site environment.

Previous Level 2 service desk experience with clear progression into hands‑on network and infrastructure ownership.

Strong knowledge of switching, network segmentation, firewalls, wireless networks, remote access and troubleshooting.

Practical experience implementing security controls, cloud identity solutions and endpoint management platforms.

Strong diagnostic, documentation and service‑management skills, with excellent attention to detail.

Experience managing vendors and holding external partners accountable for scope, quality and delivery.

A proactive, approachable communicator who can confidently support both technical and non‑technical team members.

A dependable, solutions‑focused mindset with the discipline to follow issues through to completion.

Nice to have

Relevant certification in networking, cybersecurity or IT operations.

Experience with recognised security frameworks and retail point‑of‑sale systems.

Experience with Google Workspace and related applications

Exposure to retail, hospitality or other multi‑site operations.

Experience supporting warehouse or distribution centre technology, including scanners, label printers and wireless coverage.

Knowledge of structured cabling and technology fit‑outs.

Previous supervisory experience—or the ambition and potential to step into a people leadership role.

Take ownership of a key technology function from day one, with genuine opportunity to grow alongside the business.

Receive direct mentoring from the Head of Technology across strategy, architecture, commercial decision‑making and vendor management.

Deliver meaningful technology and security improvements with the backing to make them happen.

Enjoy a varied role spanning networks, security, hardware, vendors, support and new‑store rollouts.

Access support for professional certifications and structured learning.

Company laptop and equipment provided.
