Job summary

TasWater is seeking an Infrastructure Planner to join the Infrastructure Investment Planning team on a permanent full-time basis. You will analyze asset performance, growth projections, and network capacity to guide investment decisions and ensure wastewater infrastructure meets a growing state’s needs.

You will work with diverse stakeholders, develop growth forecasts, prepare business cases, and contribute to risk-based planning. A focus on data-driven insights and collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in infrastructure planning, engineering, environmental science, asset management, land use planning or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience, or transferable capability, in infrastructure planning, asset planning, strategic analysis or project development.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to interpret data and develop practical recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, consultants or contractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capability using digital tools, analytical software and data systems.
  • A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support infrastructure planning activities that inform long-term investment decisions across wastewater assets.
  • Research, analyse and develop recommendations to address asset performance, growth and capacity challenges.
  • Contribute to strategic asset management initiatives and risk-based investment planning.
  • Develop and maintain growth forecasts and planning assumptions that support future infrastructure requirements.
  • Prepare reports, plans, business cases and technical recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Work with technical specialists, data teams and operational stakeholders to improve planning tools, datasets and business processes.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
