Job summary

Yarram + District Health Service (YDHS) is seeking an Infection Control Nurse to lead and coordinate infection prevention activities in a rural Victoria setting. The role focuses on applying evidence-based practices to minimise infection risk and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Candidates should hold a tertiary nursing qualification with current registration and ideally a Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary nursing qualification with current registration.
• Recognised Infection Control qualifications (e.g. Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control or working towards).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of general, clinical and environmental microbiology.
• Understanding of the principles of epidemiology, data collection and presentation of information.
• Demonstrated leadership and organisational/administrative skills.
• Understanding of sterilisation, disinfection and sanitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist and promote YDHS’ strategic directions while ensuring duties are performed within legislative compliance, organisational policies and procedures, and relevant acts.
• Apply infection prevention and control practices to reduce risk and promote patient and staff safety.
• Demonstrate leadership and administrative capabilities in coordinating infection control activities.
• Maintain required checks and registrations as part of ongoing professional requirements.
