Job summary

Cochlear is seeking an Industrial Engineer to review, recommend and implement methods, layouts and resources in the manufacturing areas to improve conditions, efficiency and flexibility. The Industrial Engineer is responsible for resolving production issues in collaboration with the Manufacturing Manager and support staff, based at the Brisbane Operations site in Newstead.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success applying Lean methodologies and principles.
• Knowledge of Lean tools such as Pillar Charts and Value Stream Mapping.
• Demonstrate a strong passion for continuous improvement.
• Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment of all manufacturing areas for potential efficiency improvements.
• Record and maintain manufacturing process data, including cycle times and OEE.
• Map processes (including Value Stream Map, SIPOC and Spaghetti Map).
• Suggest process and system improvements through the application of Lean tools.
• Build and present business cases for improvements quantifying cost and benefit of different options.
• Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise and direct continuous improvement activities.
• Define metrics or displays that will assist manufacturing (visible schedule, first pass yield or others).
• Amend processes, storage locations, staff structure to promote efficient utilisation.
• Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to promote maximum efficiency.
