Job summary

Cochlear is seeking an Industrial Engineer to review, recommend and implement methods, layouts and resources in manufacturing to improve efficiency and flexibility. The role focuses on resolving production issues in collaboration with the Manufacturing Manager and support staff.

It is a permanent full-time position at our Brisbane Operations site in Newstead. The successful candidate will assess manufacturing areas, map processes, apply Lean tools, build solid business cases and work with

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated success applying Lean methodologies and principles.
Knowledge of Lean tools and techniques (Value Stream Mapping, Pillar Charts).
Strong communication and stakeholder-relations skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct assessment of all manufacturing areas for potential efficiency improvements.
Record and maintain manufacturing process data, including cycle times and OEE.
Map processes (including Value Stream Map, SIPOC and Spaghetti Map).
Suggest process and system improvements through the application of Lean tools.
Build and present business cases for improvements quantifying cost and benefit of different options.
Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise and direct continuous improvement activities.
Define metrics or displays that will assist manufacturing (visible schedule, first pass yield or others).
Amend processes, storage locations, staff structure to promote efficient utilisation.
