Job summary

Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service in Rockhampton, Queensland, seeks an Indigenous health worker to deliver culturally appropriate mental health care and health education across community settings.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams in acute inpatient care and community-based programs, partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to support self-determination and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Must hold (or be willing to complete) the Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
• Indigenous status as required by the genuine occupational requirement for this role.
• Ability to deliver culturally appropriate mental health care, health education, prevention and early intervention.

Responsibilities

• Deliver culturally appropriate mental health prevention, early intervention, education and health promotion services to individuals, families and community groups.
• Empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to strengthen self-determination, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing.
• Facilitate access to specialist mental health services through culturally specific education, support and liaison with clinical teams.
• Build partnerships with community members, government agencies and non-government organisations to develop integrated health services and programs.
