Job summary

Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools – Grafton, NSW, seeks two Aboriginal Education Workers (Identified Position) for part-time, temporary roles. Roles involve implementing Indigenous education plans, promoting cultural identity, and building community partnerships within the school.

Positions are 2 x part-time, 48 hours per fortnight and 36 hours per fortnight, start 27 January 2027, end of 2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (documented confirmation of Aboriginality is a requirement at interview).
• Must hold a current Working with Children Check clearance
• Compliance with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy upon appointment

Responsibilities

• Work with the school leadership team to implement the Diocesan Action Plan for the Education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Act as a role model for students by encouraging them to take pride in their schooling and their cultural identity.
• Promote a sense of welcome and belonging so that all in the school community gain respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and educational opportunities.
• Support the school to understand and show respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s knowledge, skills and traditions.
• Raise expectations and enhance student learning by developing individualised cultural, curriculum and career goals.
• Develop a partnership with the local Aboriginal community, families and the school to promote a respectful school environment.
