Job summary

St Joseph's College, Banora Point (Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools) seeks an Aboriginal Education Worker (Identified Position) to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and school leaders in promoting a culturally inclusive learning environment.

The role emphasises fostering cultural pride, belonging, and respectful relationships within the school community, with compliance to Working with Children checks and Catholic school policies. End date: end of 2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (interview eligibility).
• Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and culture.

Responsibilities

• Working with the school leadership team to implement Diocesan actions for Indigenous education.
• Act as a role model, encouraging pride in culture and schooling.
• Promote welcome and belonging to foster respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
• Support development of individualised plans including cultural, curriculum and career goals.
• Develop partnerships with local Aboriginal community, families and the school.
