Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is recruiting for a Manager Aboriginal Cultural Capability to lead cultural capability initiatives and a dedicated Aboriginal Facilitator. The role shapes workforce development, governance and service delivery with a strong emphasis on Aboriginal perspectives and cultural safety within a premier inner-city hospital in Sydney.

You will engage with communities, lead program design and evaluation, and report to senior leadership while aligning with NSW priorities.

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, hold a current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence, and be willing to travel across the catchment.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification with a proven track record leading teams and embedding Aboriginal perspectives.
• Skilled in designing, managing, and delivering cultural capability initiatives with strong project management and knowledge of government frameworks.
• Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and communication skills to influence change.
• Proven ability to engage with Aboriginal communities, leadership teams and external organisations.
• A supportive leader committed to mentoring staff and fostering a culturally safe workplace.

Responsibilities

• Lead Aboriginal Cultural Capability initiatives across the organisation and a dedicated facilitator.
• Design, deliver, evaluate and report on cultural capability programs for workforce development.
• Build partnerships with local Aboriginal communities and stakeholders for culturally informed services.
• Influence governance, policies and service models to embed Aboriginal perspectives within planning.
• Produce reports and briefs for senior leadership and support program compliance and improvement.
