Job summary

The Victorian Department of Education seeks an experienced Visiting Teacher to lead Disability Inclusion initiatives across government schools in Melbourne. You will build capability in teachers and schools to deliver inclusive curriculum and supports for students with disabilities and impairments.

You will design professional learning, collaborate with regional teams, and advance strategies that promote access, engagement and high-quality learning for students with varied needs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated substantial experience teaching students with additional learning or wellbeing needs.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary professional team.
• Experience designing, delivering, or brokering professional learning for teachers and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Support Whole School Initiatives in disability inclusion.
• Provide specialist advice to schools for curriculum access and inclusion.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote coordinated inclusion initiatives.
• Utilise innovative technologies to improve access to curriculum for eligible students.
• Promote effective teaching practices to drive sustained classroom change.
• Support identification of student needs and adjustments to access learning, including Disability Inclusion Profile process.
• Provide educational services to students from preschool to VCE.
• Offer case support to visiting teachers and regional staff in disability areas.
• Undertake other duties related to supporting students with disabilities as needed.
