Job summary

SYC is seeking a Youth Employment Coach for the Transition to Work program, based at Strathpine. This fixed-term role (12 months) delivers intensive support to help young people become work-ready and transition into jobs, training or education.

Responsibilities include one-to-one coaching, tailored job plans, and building partnerships with employers and providers to secure sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage appropriately with young people, including those with diverse needs and backgrounds.
• A motivating, supportive approach when working with young people.
• Commitment to helping young people achieve employment outcomes.
• Experience in youth support, coaching, or employment services (desirable, not essential).
• Ability to communicate, liaise and build networks with schools, education, employment/industry, and community agencies in a professional manner

Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive, one‑to‑one pre‑employment coaching to prepare participants for employment and education.
• Create tailored job plans for participants and review progress at every stage.
• Build confidence, structure, and resilience by supporting individuals to overcome personal and practical barriers.
• Work proactively with both participants and employers to achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
• Promote participants to employers through effective reverse marketing to identify suitable opportunities.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local employers, training providers, and community organisations
