Job summary

Brighton Secondary College in Melbourne is seeking a skilled classroom teacher to plan, prepare and deliver engaging programs that improve student outcomes and meet the needs of diverse learners.

You will monitor progress, use data to inform teaching, provide timely feedback to students and parents, participate in professional learning and collaborate with staff to support whole-school priorities.

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to teach literacy and numeracy; respond to student needs.
• SC2: Experience planning and implementing high impact strategies and evaluating impact on growth.
• SC3: Experience monitoring/assessing learning; using data to inform teaching and provide feedback to students/parents.
• SC4: Strong interpersonal/communication skills; build relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the school community.
• SC5: Demonstrated reflection, professional learning to improve teaching quality.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individuals; contribute to curriculum development.
• Undertake other duties as determined by the principal; support school priorities.
• Supervise/train student teachers; mentor staff to improve practice.
• Use student data to inform approaches and help achieve learning targets.
• Participate in policy development and school improvement activities.
