Job summary

University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba is seeking a Maintenance Officer (Buildings) to join the Facilities Management team across the Toowoomba campus and satellite facilities. You will perform routine building and facilities maintenance, minor repairs and support planned maintenance programs.

With a hands-on approach, you will ensure safety, compliance and efficient operation of teaching and research spaces, coordinating with trades, keeping accurate records and responding to urgent

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-trades certificate or advanced certificate together with extensive relevant experience.
• Extensive experience within a maintenance, facilities or operational support environment.
• Ability to effectively use a work order management system and maintain records.
• Sound understanding of safety principles and safe work practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building and facilities maintenance, minor repairs and general handyperson tasks.
• Undertake operational maintenance activities and minor installations.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance requirements.
• Log, action and complete work requests in the facilities management system.
• Respond promptly to urgent and emergency maintenance requests to minimise disruption.
• Support development and delivery of planned and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate access with contractors and ensure safe works are undertaken.
