Job summary

Aurec Group is seeking an Associate IBM Mainframe Developer to support a large-scale, secure issuance and control system within a Federal Government environment in Canberra, ACT.

In this contract role you will design, write, test and integrate mainframe code across the full software development life cycle, undertake incident response and after-hours support on a rotating shift, and collaborate with project managers, business analysts and ICT staff to translate requirements into robust software

Qualifications

• Experience in mainframe development across full life cycle.
• Strong knowledge of PL/I, COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DB2.
• Experience with z/OS and z/VSE.
• Familiarity with IBM MQ Series, Rocket Data z/Services, telemetry/monitoring tools.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, test, and integrate mainframe code to meet milestones.
• Handle incident response, troubleshooting, and after-hours support on a rotating shift.
• Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and ICT staff to translate requirements.
• Produce technical specifications and documentation; follow security standards.
• Provide guidance and plan for future mainframe demand.
