Job summary

City of Gold Coast is seeking an Engineering Compliance Officer to provide specialist expertise in assessing, approving, and ensuring compliance of water, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure. This role involves site inspections, review of construction methods, and cross-team collaboration to uphold approvals and standards.

Key tasks include managing non-standard connections, live works, and bypass arrangements, plus input into standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of design and construction of water and sewer assets.
• Strong knowledge of the SEQ D&C Code and its requirements.
• Understanding of WHS Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Water Act 2000.
• Understanding of development planning and approval processes.
• Experience with quality management systems (9001, 14001, HACCP, 4801).
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
• Team oriented with ability to build relationships across levels.
• Ability to engage with all users of water, recycled water and sewer networks.
• High level technical expertise with influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience in office, construction site and client premises.
• C Class Driver’s Licence (Unrestricted)
• General Construction Induction White Card

Responsibilities

• Assess development applications and apply compliance conditions for water, recycled water, and wastewater services.
• Manage non-standard water and sewer connections, including live works, shutdowns, and bypass arrangements.
• Review and approve construction methodologies, QA documentation, commissioning, and As-Constructed data.
• Conduct site inspections and resolve design or construction conflicts to ensure compliance with approvals and standards.
• Provide technical input into standards, products, and best-practice outcomes with cross-team collaboration.
